It is time for our next challenge. Last year’s challenge at Heaton Park encouraged our patients to take part in a walk of any distance between 1 and 5 kilometres with or without assistance. Some people also tried cycling and even being supported by relatives doing a 5k push The participants were sponsored and we raised approximately £1500 for both Stroke Association and Spinal Injuries Research which we felt was a great result.

The main goal of these events is to highlight the importance of keeping active despite disability and showing that anyone can challenge themselves and succeed! Some of our patients last year, who had been told they would never walk after stroke pr spinal injury managed to walk unaided 1.5 kilometres (quite an achievement!!)

Alex-walking-225x300This year the event will take place at Victoria Park Swinton which is very close to MNC and is on Saturday 30th August at 11 am.

We hope this time to have even more participants and this time we will hope to raise funds for Headway (a charity specifically for people who have suffered brain injury) and a local charity the Salford and Trafford Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Anyone interested in attending or who knows of someone who may wish to participate (with help from our willing team, if required) please contact MNC 0161 793 0003.
