Treatment Centre
Neurological Teaching CentreMarco (Guillain-Barré)
During a holiday with my wife and son in October 2007, I was diagnosed with the the most severe case of the Guillain Barre Syndrome. I spent 3 months on the Intensive Care Unit of the University hospital in Newark, USA. After the hospital I spent 3 months in the Kessler Rehabilitation Centre in New Jersey, USA.
In April 2008 we came to Manchester, where I was first admitted to the Salford Royal Hospital as a requirement by moving from the USA to the UK.
This is where I found out about the Manchester Neurotherapy Centre, thanks to Dr. Kellet, who recommended it to me. So after 1 week in hospital I went home and started therapy at the MNC a week later.
During my therapy sessions, my regular therapist has been Charlotte, who has done a tremendous job in my overall well-being. My main challenges when I started at the MNC were that I was not able to properly walk without the assistance of 2 sticks, I was unable to lift my left arm more than 20 inches and my overall alignment was not yet optimal. Charlotte has worked very hard on improving these areas with great results, for which I will always be grateful.
I continue my therapy at the MNC and expect to make a complete recovery and considering that less than 10 months ago I was on a ventilator and paralysed from top till toe, this is a major achievement.
